General characteristics
35 km northeast of the town of Lelchitsy, 2.3 km southwest of the village of Ostrozhanka
InfrasructureThe transport network in the field area is sufficiently developed. The navigable Pripyat River flows 12 kilometers north of the deposit. The Kozenki railway station of the Ovruch -Mozyr railway line, to which bentonite clays can be exported, is located 63 kilometers by road from the deposit, of which 52.5 kilometers of the Lelchitsy-Mozyr highway and 10.5 kilometers of the local gravel road.
General description of concession objectThe useful minerals in the deposit are bentonite clays of terrigenous-sedimentary type (lake-alluvial), confined to the Neogene sediments. They occur at depths from 13.3 to 26.3 meters in the form of a layer-like deposit and are characterized by unstable thickness and quality. The thickness of bentonite clays varies from 4.7 to 19.2 meters with average block values of 8.73 to 14.1 meters. A detailed exploration was carried out at the deposit. Industrial reserves of bentonite clays amount to 12282 thousand tons. Overburden rocks are represented by low- and medium-dispersed clays of Neogene age with interlayers of sandy-silty rocks and carbonate inclusions of up to 11.5% with thickness from 4.3 to 21 meters and sands with interlayers of sandy loam and loam of Quaternary age with thickness from 5.2 to 17.5 meters.
